Fun With The Full Moon!

full moon ceremony

Growing up I paid no mind to the moon. I did not feel its pull or calling. I think I was too busy being in love with the sun (needed that tan you know!) which makes sense since it represents ego and the material world. Fast forward many (unnumbered) years and now I am in love with the moon too!

I know there is some scientific explanation for the full moon phase and its position in the solar system but I don’t really give a care about that. To me the Full Moon is a time of amplification of feelings and sensuality, a time to find and express your true essence. To wit it is the perfect time for following your bliss!

Charge Crystals

full moon crystal cleanse

If you use Crystals (and I highly recommend that you do!) then this is a perfect time to cleanse and refresh them through the natural lunar energy. Simply put them either on a window sill receiving the moon’s light or even better place them outside in direct rays overnight. Be sure to collect them in the morning before the sun gets too powerful because the sun’s rays will sap the life out of them.

Cleanse Yourself and Your Space

cleanse your space, sage, incense, full moon

Declutter your physical space by ridding yourself of junk and/or things you haven’t worn or used in 6 months or more. Donate these items to a charity for added benefit. Declutter your energetic space by burning some incense or sage in your home, workspace, car, etc., take an epsom salt bath, ring some bells/chimes in your spaces and absorb the sound. Consider also completing a food fast and or doing a detox for the day or week of the full moon.

Meditate

If you’re new to meditation see this. Choose one type of meditation and bring it outside under the full moon. You can simply inhale the moon’s energy and let it warm you and open your heart and as you exhale connect yourself further to the earth. If it’s warm where you are, sitting on the ground is ideal or if you’re doing walking meditation walk barefoot!  If it’s wintery weather maybe sit inside at a window with moon light streaming in or do a more active meditation outside like Breath of Joy.

Dance

Dance to your choice of music (Classic Moon Tunes:  Cat Steven’s Moon Shadow or Neil Young’s Harvest Moon or Van Morrison’s Dancing in the Moonlight, Bad Moon Rising by CCR) Whatever moves you will do. Consider also dancing to night’s nature sounds: the crackle of leaves and branches , the hoot of owls, howl of coyotes or even silence. Move freely, let go and be wild! Another option if it’s warm is to dance naked. There’s really nothing more free feeling than this! Finally ‘dancing’ with a friend amorously under the full moon is exquisite.

Let Go

full moon, howling, letting go

Forgive yourself and forgive others. Write down on a paper something you feel guilty for or some anger or grudge you hold. Hold those feelings for a moment and ask the moon to help you release and let go these feelings/situations that are not serving you. Burn the paper in a fire and as you watch it burn say goodbye to these unhelpful feelings. Let them transmute into ash. One other thing I like to do after this is to Howl at the Moon! Try it! When I do my howling I am thanking the moon and other forces for assisting me in moving forward and/or I am releasing more of the feelings I just burned.

Send Some Love Reiki of greater boston, waltham reiki, life coaching

The Full Moon phase is a perfect time to pray for others and send them good wishes and vibrations. Metta Meditation (Loving Kindness) is my go to for this but you can do your own method of Love sending. Metta:  Start by sending the Love to yourself first –

May I dwell in safety.
May I be happy and healthy.
May I be at peace.

Move on then to someone you love and send this prayer to them using their name – May “name” dwell in safety, etc. Next send it to someone who pushes your buttons! And finally send the prayer to all human beings or all sentient beings whichever seems right for you.

Intentionally Absorb the Lunar Energy

Simply sit directly under the moon and absorb whatever it is sending you. It is helpful to be in a calm state to absorb this energy so perhaps take a few deep breaths or a few minutes watching your breath and then communicate with Mother Moon in whatever way that feels right for you. Stay open!

Make a Wish or Set Intentions

full moon intentions

Write your wish or intention on a piece of paper and put it in a small wish jar. I like to use clear glass. Set the jar out in the moonlight and let the moon do its magic. Take the jar in in the morning and put it away until the next full moon when you can revisit your original wish/intention and note any progress. Re-do it if necessary.

Take a Moon Bath

full moon bathing

You can just bathe in the moon rays either clothed or naked or actually take a bath with water and moon rays. For this you can use a sprinkler, hose or my favorite – a kiddie pool! So fun and purifying. Get clean!

Invent Your Own Full Moon Ceremony

full moon ceremony

Get creative! Listen to your gut and go with it. Each time I do my own ceremony I add something new as the spirit moves me. Think about banging a drum or other percussion instrument, dance, yell, use fire, do yoga, sleep outside, etc.

Pick one or 2 of these activities that call to you, give them a try and let me know how you make out. Most important is to feel creative and FREE!

Holidays Are Not All They’re Cracked Up To Be! Here’s How To Deal.

Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal.

Good for you if you enjoy the Winter Holidays! It seems however, that you are in the minority. Between trying to please everyone with foods, gifts, your presence at their house and not the in-laws, travel and having to pretend to be having the best time, it’s exhausting! Not to mention being exposed to family dynamics that can get you down, throw you off and all that. We can meet up and celebrate life with family and friends anytime of the year so why do we have to squeeze it all into one day, week, month? Traditions. Blah. Break them and create your own that will make you happy instead of sad and/or stressed. Here are some ideas to stay true to yourself during this busy season (and the whole year through too):

Avoid Stress Triggers

You must know what these triggers are before you can learn to avoid them. When trying to identify what puts you over the edge it is helpful to make a list of these things, people and situations that trigger your stress/anxiety, sadness. Even if you only know 1 or 2, write them down and then plan your holiday time so that you don’t have to encounter them or at least minimize your exposure.

Don’t Schedule/Plan Too Much

Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Don't Over Schedule, Reiki of Greater Boston

If you are hosting the holiday event you of course must plan and schedule but consider trimming it all down. I come from an Italian background so everything is all about food, all the time. Over the years I’ve come to realize that 3 pasta dishes will suffice, no need to knock myself out making 5. Think up at least a few ways that you can minimize your planning and scheduling. Accepting invitations to only a couple of parties instead of all 10 you were invited to is one thought. Come up with a few more!

SLEEP!

Consistently getting a full night’s sleep (8 hours) is essential when trying to deal with Holiday stress. Any stress really. Read here for tips for better sleep. Until your nighttime sleeping is deep and full try to sneak a nap in here and there. There’s no shame in it! Really! I love my naps.

Try Aromatherapy

Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Aromatherapy, Reiki of Greater Boston

Citrus fragrances boost levels of mood-balancing hormones, strengthen immunity, purify air quality. Purchase some essential oils like Orange, Grapefruit or Lemon. Use them in a diffuser or put a few drops on a cotton ball and inhale anytime you need a pick-me-up.

Limit Your Use Of Electronic Devices

Switch phone off as much as you can and don’t carry it with you unless you are waiting for an urgent call. Only check emails and texts once or twice a day at a specific time and watch/listen to limited TV/News. All the negative reports effect you more than you can imagine not to mention all the negative Electromagnetic radiation you’re absorbing from these devices.

Welcome Nature Into Your Life Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Invite Nature In, Reiki of Greater Boston

The one thing I do enjoy about Christmas is the fragrance that the live Balsam emits through the house. (Of course you must plant a tree/trees in its place!) Any form of nature brings healing and grounded energy to you so as much as is possible, get outside and breathe the fresh air or bring elements of nature indoors in the form of plants, flowers, feathers, acorns, pinecones, leaves, etc. If the weather isn’t too abominable on Christmas Day, I’m in favor of taking a walk either alone or with whoever wants to join (as long as they don’t chatter the whole time!) after dinner and before dessert.

Avoid Crowded Malls/Shopping Centers

Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Avoid Shopping Malls, REiki of greater Boston

Unless you shop very early, before the mad rush starts I recommend shopping on-line. No lines, no parking problems, no crowds, no scurrying about  only to find the items you want are not stocked. Shopping is such a soul crushing activity anyway and the poor air quality and constant sensory stimulation will wear you out in a snap!

Enjoy Music Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Enjoy Music, Reiki of Greater Boston

It doesn’t have to be Holiday Music. Play any music that makes you feel good and happy. I enjoy a few traditional holiday tunes but the same tunes over and over is no good. Change it up with some Jazz versions , Trans-Siberian Orchestra , The Messiah or if none of this does the trick just enjoy whatever music you like.

Help Those Less Fortunate

Volunteering may seem counterintuitive because you have to schedule yet another thing to do but the feeling you will get from helping others will far exceed the troubles. This always helps to remind me of the true meaning of the Holidays and also just how lucky I am. You can do this alone or enlist a friend to go with you. Help others and help yourself at the same time by affirming your own blessings, which by the way, will elevate the more you put yourself out there and open your heart!  You could also consider foregoing gifts for the family and instead donate that money to a favorite or worthy charity. Read: Other Ways To Give.

Breathe

Take 5 minutes a day (the same time of day is best to form a habit) to breathe consciously. Sit or lie down in a comfortable quiet area and simply follow your natural breathing pattern, watching your breath come in and out. To shake it up try different breathing patterns like Square Breathing, or Counting Your Breaths, etc. Schedule a private session -(8th option down) to learn Breath Meditation techniques. Notice how calm you feel after this brief session.

Plan An Intimate Date

Instead of attending crowded functions, schedule a luncheon with one or 2 close friends in a quiet spot perfect for sharing and catching up.

Exercise  Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Exercise, REiki of Greater Boston

As you know by now exercise reduces stress (and weight!) so do it daily during this busy season. You don’t have to hit the gym everyday but move your body in some way. Walk, dance, do some yoga or stretching. Ahhh… much better.

Manage Food Intake

Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Manage Food Intake, Reiki of Greater Boston

Oh this can be a tough one! For me though, the stress of having to take the weight off after I gorge myself is worse than saying no to Canollis and Pumpkin Pie. Some things that help me to stay on track: Eat Mindfully. This means slowly and with awareness. Pay attention to what you’re putting in your mouth, how it tastes, smells and feels. Drink lots of water throughout the day, especially right before your meals. Bring your own food! I know it seems rude but I don’t really care and neither should you or your friends if they respect your intentions for your health. Baggies full of veggies and fruits and nuts, water bottles and protein bars are easy, unintrusive snacks. Allow Yourself 1 Cheat Food Per Gathering (unless you have excessive gatherings!). Be reasonable and strike a balance.

Treat Yourself

My favorite suggestion to follow! Do something that makes you feel good. (Yes, it can be sex!) Things like Spa Treatments: facials, massages, Reiki Healing and bubble baths come to mind. Others may enjoy painting, reading or dancing. There are certainly ways to treat yourself that are within your budget. This will keep you less Grinch-like through what can be a difficult season.  Holidays Are Not All They're Cracked Up To Be! Here's How To Deal., Treat Yourself, Reiki of Greater Boston

So try a few of these suggestions and I’m sure I’ll see you all Healthy and Calm on the Other Side of The Holidays! Read: More Ways to Put Some Chill Time Into Your Life.

Looking For More Joy, Pleasure Or Creativity In Your Life?

Sacral Chakra work at Reikiofgreaterboston, Waltham

Sacral Chakra work at Reikiofgreaterboston, WalthamReally, who doesn’t want more of these life affirming qualities?! If you’re someone who is chronically low on the FUN and FREEDOM thing you will benefit from some of the ‘treatment’ suggestions below.

If you are plagued with any of these Emotional Issues

  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Insecurity
  • Detachment
  • Jealousy
  • Fear
  • Cold emotionally and sexually
  • Lack of Joy
  • Stuck/Flat Emotions

Or these Physical Issues

  • Constipation
  • Low back pain
  • Urinary and kidney infections
  • Gynecological Issues
  • Abnormal menstruation
  • Infertility
  • Impotence

Then rebalancing your Sacral Chakra could help!

What is a Chakra?

In simple terms, Chakras are energy centers, vortexes or wheels in and around our bodies where energy gets processed.Take a peek at this earlier writing to learn chakra basics and information on the Root/1st Chakra.

Sacral Chakra, Reiki of Greater Boston, Chakra Balancing

The treatments listed below will help you begin to release shame and guilt and  be able to come more fully present in your body resulting in a freer, more authentic existence.

I am the target text.

Treatments

Balancing the Sacral Chakra allows us to begin to release fear, guilt and shame that have either been programmed into our lives or learned some other way. In balancing this Chakra we begin to feel free to be human at the most basic level, physically, sensually, creatively, passionately and sexually.

Swivel Those Hips. Let Loose!

Yoga Postures:

  • Kapotasana (Pigeon)
  • Supta Bahdda Konasana (Reclining Butterfly)
  • Dahnurasana (Bow)
  • Bhujangasana (Cobra)
  • Dance- Swivel Hips, Move to the music

If you’re not familiar with these poses you can look them up on-line or schedule a Yoga session and we can play with all of these!

Crystals:

  • Carnelian
  • Orange Kyanite
  • Sun Stone
  • Tiger’s Eye
  • Amber

Carry one or more of these stones with you when you’re feeling closed down. They will help open you up to creativity, life and feeling.

Reiki:

To balance Chakras with Reiki we will do an assessment of each of the 7 major chakras by dowsing with a pendulum. Next, crystals will be tested for compatibility with your body and placed at specific points on your body/or table and a guided meditation and Reiki session will ensue.  A Chakra Balancing session takes about 75 minutes. A specific session working on 1 specific Chakra can take place in the same amount of time and will also include practicing Yoga Poses and chants. You can make your appointment here. After your session you will be given some ‘homework’ to maintain the chakras that were shown to be out of balance.

Chanting: VAM

Click link above to hear this chanting. You can simply listen or join in on the chant for a more intense vibrational healing. I like to lie down and let the sounds wash over me. It’s an hour long recording but you don’t need to listen to the whole thing. Just see how it feels for you. I’d give it at least 10 minutes.

Aromatherapy:

Try one of these fragrances in the form of essential oils (use in a diffuser or rub the oils directly on your skin) or incense (burn) when trying to open yourself up to more feeling, creativity and acceptance.

Clary Sage
Jasmine
Rose
Sandalwood
Ylang-Ylang

Essential Oils can be purchased at Whole Foods or on-line. Be sure they are Pure essential oils.

Meditation & Breathwork:

Left nostril breathing called Ida Nadi breathing will help to open up the second chakra as it brings forth moon (ruler of the tides, oceans and all the water in our bodies) energy. Before you start you may want to blow your nose to make it as clear as possible. Begin in a comfortable seated position with your back erect, head in line with your spine. Close your eyes or at least soften their gaze and then close off your right nostril with the first two fingers of your right hand. Now inhale and exhale through the left nostril only trying your best to take full, complete inhales filling the whole chest cavity and even up to your throat up with breath. On the exhale release all the stale breath full of toxins by squeezing the tummy muscles to press out all the air. Repeat until you feel ready to stop.

Swirling, Sacral Energy

Try this simple Sacral Meditation to aide in balancing your 2nd chakra. Lie down on your back. Don’t you like this already?! Close your eyes and allow your body to become soft and heavy. Now on your next inhale imagine a vibrant orange light entering your lower abdomen and permeating through to your lower back. Your whole Sacral area is full of swirling, energizing orange light/energy. Simply notice how it feels to you. When you feel done, on an exhale, shrink the light down to dot size and then let it finally disappear.

Play:

Suck up all the sweetness and juiciness of life! This is the crux of the Sacral Chakra. Find and engage in activities that bring you joy! Is there an activity you loved to do in your childhood that you have not engaged in as an adult? Here are some activities people (including myself) find helpful in getting back in touch with that free spirit most of us embodied as a child:

Art/Crafts: Drawing, coloring, painting, decoupage, making a shadow box, make pot holders, make jewelry

Physical Activity: Dancing, joining an adult sports team – hockey, Climb a Tree (my favorite!) soccer, volleyball,  Skipping, Play Hop-Scotch, Jump Rope, Ride Bikes, Swing on a swing, etc.

Games/Toys: Puzzles, Dolls, Legos, Lincoln Logs

Music: Sing, play an instrument (even just bang on some pots)

None of these things have to be done to look a certain way. Simply do them for fun! Try to get fully absorbed with the activity, getting lost in the joy of it. Feel free and flowy!

Color Therapy:

Orange! A perfect color for fall and Halloween. Wear more orange, eat orange foods (oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes), bring some orange into your decor: some throw pillows, candles, blankets, wall hangings.

Mantra:

Sacral chakra Mantra, reiki of greater boston, waltham

You can repeat this statement (mantra) a few times before you get up and before you go to bed, saying each word slowly and meaningfully. As you work with this or any mantra you may find your inner knowing wanting to change some of the words to make it more resonant for you. Go with that!

Some Causes of Sacral Imbalance

  • Coldness
  • Denial of child’s feelings
  • Emotional abuse
  • Emotional manipulation
  • Familial alcoholism
  • Incest
  • Lack of rules/boundaries
  • Neglect
  • Physical abuse
  • Rejection
  • Religious or moral severity
  • Restriction of movement
  • Sexual abuse

Associations for the Second or Sacral Chakra:

  • Developmental Stage: 6 Months to 2 Years
  • Sanskrit Name: Svadishthana – Meaning Sweetness.
  • Location: 3 inches below the naval.
  • Color: Orange
  • Physical organs: Kidney, Bladder, Reproductive Organs
  • Key Note: D
  • Sense: Taste
  • Element: Water
  • Sound: VAM
  • Endocrine System: Testicles and Ovaries

Now, go get your silly on!

May you be open to receive and relish in all of the sweetness, joy and love the world has to offer you.

Much Love, Lisa purple_heart                                                                   no tagline-01

Got Carbohydrate Cravings? Squelch ‘Em!

How to Reduce Carb Cravings, reikiofgreaterboston, waltham

How to Reduce Carb Cravings, reikiofgreaterboston, waltham

Ooh. Don’t you hate me for posting these tempting pictures?! They’re even making me drool and I’ve been off carbs for years now. For a good part of my young adult/adult life I had intense cravings for chocolate. At some point it was totally out of control and very unhealthy so I decided to take control. You can do the same for your carb cravings! I researched, experimented and voila’ I have been craving free for 10 years! Taking Magnesium supplements was the key for me. Read on to learn about your solution(s).How to Reduce Carb Cravings, reikiofgreaterboston, waltham

Before you try any of the following remedies you will of course want to run it by your Doctor and make sure you are clear of more serious conditions that can also cause cravings such as hormone imbalances, hypoglycemia, diabetes, etc.

Proven Natural Remedies that Cut Carb Cravings

supplements to squelch carb cravings, reikiofgreaterboston

The Following are some natural remedies that have worked to diminish or eliminate carbohydrate cravings for me & my clients.

I recommend trying 1 at a time for at least a 2 week duration so that you will know what is working for you. (An aside: If you get bored, or frustrated experimenting with these supplements I’d say perhaps you are not quite ready for this path. Trying one of the Life Style options below may be more tolerable for you at this point.)

  1. Chromium – 600 micrograms/day
  2. Vitamin B Complex -Follow Directions from Manufacturer
  3. Magnesium – 200-300 mg/day
  4. Omega 3 – 500 mg/day
  5. Vitamin D -Follow Directions from Manufacturer
  6. Resveratrol – 100mg/day
  7. Co-Enzyme Q 10 – 100-300mg/day

Other Possible Remedies

I’m hopeful that  you will have success with the above suggestions but here are some other supplements you might look into if the above did not help you demolish the cravings demon. I have not personally worked with these but as I read about remedies that help this issue these come up repeatedly:

  • 5-Htp
  • Tryptophan
  • Glutamine
  • Lipase

Life Style Can Help Cut Cravings

In addition to trying some of these supplements it is always a good idea to do a food intake cleanse before you begin a new regime. Spring is the perfect time to try one. See this article for cleansing suggestions/information.

Employing the following Life Style choices with the supplements will support your goal to squelch the cravings:

  • Eat ‘clean’ whole foods (organic if possible): fruits, veggies, lean proteins, legumes, certain grains .
  • Exercise regularly in whatever form moves you. (pun intended).
  • Get as much sleep/rest as you can. Read here for tips to better sleep.
  • Manage stress by utilizing mind-body techniques: Reiki, Yoga, Breathing Exercises.
  • Purchase and use/wear Amethyst Crystal which helps with all addictions. (If your cravings stem from a broken heart, low self-esteem, etc. then I will recommend a different set of crystals and oils combination.)
  • Try Aromatherapy with Essential Oils Peppermint and/or Bergamot.
  • One final thing to consider is, “What are these cravings trying to say to you?” If they stem from emotional issues in addition to chemical issues then these cravings may subside with the above attention but may get transferred over to another type of addiction. It can get complicated so it is helpful to be aware and in touch with possible emotional causes.

As with every other goal you work toward in your life, you must truly be ready and open to change and be dedicated to the journey despite the possibly bumpy road. Along with supplements, Reiki, Yoga and Life Coaching can support your work and I’m happy to help guide you on your Journey to Health with these methods!

As always, I’m happy to answer any question and please let me know if you have success with these or any other methods in curbing carb cravings.

Achoo! Natural Prevention For Change Of Season Colds

Natural Cold Prevention and Remedies from Reiki of Greater Boston

Most things I’ve read from the Medical community regarding the ‘truth’ about Change of Season Colds, deny their existence. Yet still so many clients present with this issue that I know there is something to it.Change of Season Colds: PRevention and Cures from Reiki of Greater Boston

Upon further investigation it seems that one explanation for these change of season induced colds is that 2 forms of viruses thrive best in a dry climates. Dry climates tend to exist (at least in the Northeastern US) in  Fall/Winter/Spring when we have the heat on in the house.

Another explanation is that we tend to spend more time indoors during the fall & winter time, putting us in greater contact with people which increases our exposure to viruses.

And finally, and to me most plausible: Fall/Winter (again in New England) bring about sadness and depression from lack of light and sun and abundance of holidays, stress, etc. The low mood state encourages disruption to the immune system which then makes us more susceptible to illness including cold viruses.

There. That should satisfy the skeptics enough.

Prevention

Change of Season Colds: PRevention and Cures from Reiki of Greater BostonLive a happy, balanced, lifestyle! Easier said than done I know but here are some simple suggestions specific to cold prevention:

  1. Stay Happy!  Find something that brings you joy and do it often!
  2. Stay Balanced! Work and Play at equal levels, Have a Reiki Healing Treatment 1x/month, Engage in Yoga 1x/week. These latter 2 will keep you balanced.
  3. Wash Your Hands Often.
  4. Cover sneezes with crook of elbow or handkerchief.
  5. Keep your hands away from nose, mouth, ears, eyes.
  6. Eat lots of Fruits and Veggies.
  7. Don’t smoke or breathe in second hand smoke.
  8. Try Wellness Herbal Resistance Liquid from Source Naturals.a combination of herbs to support your immune system.
  9. Ply yourself with Vitamins & Supplements:  Astragalus, Vitamin C, Vitamin D,  Omega-3 as well as a Multi-Vitamin.
  10. Reduce sugar in your diet since it weakens your immune system.
  11. Use a Humidifier if your living quarters are dry.

Remedy

If you follow all the Prevention suggestions and still manage to catch a cold, immediately begin the following!

Natural Cold Prevention and Remedies from Reiki of Greater Boston

  1. Drink Fluids and drink more fluids. No alcohol though. Water and juices are best.
  2. Take herbs and vitamins different and/or increased from the prevention stage.
  • Echinacea
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin C
  • Zinc -necessary to produce white blood cells which fight infections.

3. Sip Some Ginger Tea– You can make your own but there are lots of great organic Ginger Teas on the market. Ginger reduces inflammation, clears congestion and supports the immune system.

Directions will come with your Neti pot purchase but be sure to use distilled water, not tap. The salt used in this precess kills bacteria and the warm water flushes out the nasal passages. Use 2x/day.

5. Use Essential Oils: Eucalyptus Oil, Tee Tree, Peppermint – Drop a few drops in the shower  or tub and breathe deeply.

6. Steam it out! Steam clears a stuffy nose quickly! You can do this with or without essential oils. Pour boiling water in a large bowl, put your face close to the water bowl and cover your head with a towel and breathe deeply for 10 minutes at least 2 times/day.

7. Take honey which has antioxidants, antiviral and antibacterial properties. It’ll boost the immune system and sooth sore throats and coughs.

8. Carry Crystals:  Green stones in general are good for clearing and ridding the body and spirit of unwanted pests and toxins.. Some favorites are: Moss Agate, Green Calcite and Fluorite.chinagreenfluorite4a

9. Eat Healthy and Light – The less energy your body uses to digest food, the more it has to dedicate to the immune system.

10. Try Chicken Soup! Change of Season Colds: PRevention and Cures from Reiki of Greater Boston There is just something about it that moves you along on the road to health.

11. Engage in Light Stretching/Yoga. Here are 3 poses particularly good for clearing colds:

uttanasana

The Standing Forward Bend improves blood flow to the head, clears the sinuses, invigorates the nervous system and relieves tension in the body.

fishpose-1

The deep breathing done in Fish Pose provides relief from respiratory ailments. It also relieves the tension in the neck and shoulders which will lighten the body up.

Legs up the Wall pose is highly effective in countering respiratory ailments. It also helps overcome headaches and backaches, calms the mind and helps keep us mentally strong while suffering from cold.

12. Have a Reiki Healing Treatment. Reiki will relax and rebalance your body, mind and spirit so that you are better able to move into healing mode. Mention this blog post to get $10.00 off of your next Reiki Treatment with me.

13. Sore Throat Gargle – One tsp. salt to 1 cup water. The salt draws out excess water in your throat’s tissues reducing inflammation and clearing mucous and irritants from the back of your throat. The salt also flushes out bacteria and viruses.

So cheers to your health and happiness! Make sure to get the ok from your Doctor before taking Vitamins and Supplements.

17 Ways To Invite Peace Into Your Home

How do you feel when you’re in your home environment? Reiki Clients come into my office for many reasons but one common denominator is stress reduction! We work together for an hour or 2 and they are feeling ‘blissed out’ when they leave. That feeling can last hours, days or longer but if you go home to a space that is toxic in some way you will not have a chance at maintaining that inner peace.

It’s not about how large or posh your living space is but how high the energy vibration is. I understand this term ‘energy vibration’ is elusive and vague to some of you but it is most definitely real. You clearly feel the difference in the office atmosphere when the boss walks in, and think about the feel of the beach air vs. basement atmosphere. You get the point. Our environment effects us in many ways and there are easy ways to transform your home space to support your quest for calm and peace. Here are some of my top suggestions that clients tell me have made a difference and that I personally have positive experience with.

1.  Open Windows

At least 10 minutes/day.

2.  De-Clutter

Clutter effects our brains and our overall health. Dust and mold collect on this clutter and more symbolically it mirrors your inner workings! You don’t have to clear the whole house (although that may be a nice long-term goal for you) but at least have a small area that is free of debris! If you are a pack-rat or hoarder come in for a Reiki series and we will use Malachite to facilitate clearing and letting go.

3.  Add Flowers/Plants peace_lily

Top choices for cleansing are: English Ivy, Peace Lily, Florists’ Chrysanthemum, Variegated Snake Plant. All of these absorb toxins but any plant or flower will soothe your eyes, heart and soul so choose your favorites!

4.  Add Art Work/Inspiration

Hang some things that inspire you or make you feel good. This can be in the form of quotes or images or something else more personal to you that reminds you of someone special and/or of the specialness of yourself.

5.  Burn Incense

Take your pick. Any one will do. My personal favorite is Sandalwood – Very earthy.

6.  Light Sage or Palo Santo

Sage. It is easy to grow your own in summer, dry it, bundle it and then burn away.

Palo Santo or “Holy Stick” is a natural wood aromatic incense used for centuries by the Incas and indigenous people of the Andes as a spiritual remedy for purifying and cleansing, as well as to get rid of evil spirits and misfortune. as well as for medicinal purposes.

 7.  Crystals_seleniterods_massive

For clearing the air toward tranquility my suggestion is Selenite. Place many wands of this crystal all around your home or quiet space. These gems do not need to be cleansed.

8.  Use Diffuser

Fill it with your choice of essential oils and enjoy how the natural fragrance alters the mood in the room.

9.  Candles

Use one or many to alter the mood of a room and clear stagnating air.

10.  No Synthetic Fragrancesperfume

Yep. Poison. They effect hormone function, reduce sperm count, have been linked to liver and breast cancer, diabetes, obesity, Autism, ADHD, and neurological disorders.

11.  No Cigarette/Cigar Smoke

I do not even know what to say about this. They are clearly poisonous. Just don’t! And if you must, take it outside and protect the air inside your home.

12.  Clear Relationship

This is not always possible, I am aware, but do your best because this discord can effect us negatively deep down to a cellular level. Sometimes when my housemate (who happens to be my husband) is misbehaving I tell him I must clear his aura and then I go all around him clinging my tuning fork against a clear quartz crystal. Ahhhh. Much better.

13.  Tibetan Salt Lamps

Oh so pretty and reduces negative ions. Read here for more information.

14.  Burden BasketBurden Basket

Hang or place a basket of some sore outside your home or just outside your own personal quiet area to remind you of issues you want to leave out side. You can even write these issues down on a square of paper and put it in the basket prior to entering the space.  Let them go. Release your burdens!

15.  No Shoes

This is self explanatory. Take off your shoes before entering your main living area leaving the physical poisons outside and symbolically leaving all the worldly stresses out there as well.

16.  Altar

Buddha in meditation with lotus flower and burning candles

This does not have to be a traditional altar but just a little placemat, table or rug where you can place items that will assist you in gaining peace and clarity some of which have been listed above.

17.  Sound

Add some of these sound options to bring an air of peace to your space:music

  •  Wind Chimes
  •  Tuning Fork- Chime against a Clear Quartz Crystal
  •  Tibetan Singing Bowl
  •  Bells
  • Music-Here’s a sample track of peace inducing music. Certainly some part of it will please you. You can find more on You Tube by searching peaceful music or music for relaxation, etc.

Why not try one or 2 of these ideas and see if they support your goal for experiencing calm? They are not too expensive, are easy to find/do and we all know that you are worth the effort!
